“The Shadows of the Temples” portrays an unpredictable encounter between a shadow man and a young man. The artist tracks the shifting history and mysterious folktales of several temples in the Southern Shandong area based on this fictional story. These temples were once born places of folktales. They experienced the collapse of the feudal empire, the imperialism’ invasion, and finally transferred to modern travel spots. Zhang sneaks from the unnamed temples into an alien landscape. Here, the serious dialogue and absurd echo surrounded the space. Zhang immersed into the overlap area between historical imagination and physical landscape to reveal the dynamic changes behind the historical sites and landscapes, to discuss the cultural heritage issue.
《寺之影》以描述了一个影子与年轻人的意外相遇，通过这个虚构的故事，艺术家回溯了数个位于山东鲁南地区的寺庙由民间信仰结社之地发端，先后经历封建帝国的崩溃，帝国主义入侵之冲击以及现代旅游业改造之后的故事。张从未命名的，破旧的庙宇潜入离奇的景观，这里被荒诞的对话与回声所包围，张沉浸在被构造的历史与自然的景观交界之地，由隐秘的历史图像出发对于历史遗址和景观背后的动态变化，文化遗址保护与破坏等多个问题进行了讨论。
