Mirror (2016-2019)

The photographic collage the mirror is virtually collage experiment based upon the concept of “picture maze.” By documenting mundane events and collecting massive inventory images, the artist used images as sense data. He extracted sense data from reality and re-presented them in a new spatial relationship through re-editing, serializing, and generating. In this way, Zhang explores the potential narrative of digital images. He also de-constructed the authenticity of images established and revealed the power of the gaze executed through the lens of the camera.
